11/01/07 - FCC Licenses Approved & Fully Operational for 170 Mbps links to Ellis County, Texas

Dallas, TX - TierOne Networks, a Dallas based Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP), announced today that the Federal Communications Commission Wireless Telecommunications Bureau has granted multiple Licenses & Frequency Paths on several important links in TierOne’s broadband backbone. The 170 Mbps links to Ellis County are fully operational and enable Ellis, County residents and businesses to benefit from a backbone directly to the Network Access Point (NAP) for the internet. The Dallas NAP is the point at which all 60 major carriers meet and transfer data between networks and represents the cheapest, most reliable broadband source in the Dallas/Fort Worth market.

The FCC Licenses make TierOne the only WISP in DFW with an FCC licensed backbone to the Dallas NAP. Customers benefit from this upgrade by receiving a substantial improvement in speed, low latency, and reliability. “This represents a major milestone in our progress toward building a Carrier-Grade Network to provide world class services,” said CEO Kevin Weaver, “this upgrade gives us the ability to replace customers old “wire-lined carriers” with TierOne’s wireless internet, VoIP, and value added services.”
