TierOne Networks provides an Internet connection via a fixed wireless antenna system. An antenna is installed on your roof with an attached radio receiver/transmitter. This antenna is pointed at a nearby Access Point tower, and must have a clear line-of-site (no trees, buildings, or hills blocking the path).  TierOne Networks service has very low “latency” (or delay) compared to satellite Internet, where signals must travel thousands of miles into space. TierOne Networks is well suited for gaming as well as other services such as VPNs and Voice over IP (VOIP).

TierOne Networks professionally mounts an antenna on your roof, then runs a Ethernet cable into your business. This may require drilling a small hole or following an existing entry into the location such as a duct or a prior cable, phone or satellite TV installation entry. An Ethernet jack is then installed on the inside of your business which you will plug your Router into.  If you need additional inside wiring to extend the connection into your home or office, we’ll do wall drops for $100.00 per wall drop. We can also provide routers for $60.00 (includes initial configuration). The routers we sell have a 60 day in-house replacement guarantee. Any repair or service after the 90 days depends on the manufacturer’s warranty. The customer still has the option to purchase their own router or have a wiring contractor run cables for them. We do not run cables on exterior walls or through walls in multiple storey houses (walls without direct attic access).

TierOne Networks will install a single Ethernet jack inside your home. If you have more than 1 computer, you will need to purchase your own wireless router. A router acts as a splitter, allowing up to 4 computers to be plugged in directly, and it also wirelessly sends your Internet signal throughout your home to any computer or laptop with a wireless card. An 802.11g wireless router typically costs under $50, and can be purchased from Walmart or any computer or office supply store.

Only severe weather can cause a degradation in service. Heavy lightning or power outages (brown-outs) can cause your radio to lose signal briefly, but your service will restore itself quickly after. We recommend all customers plug their PC’s, Radio, and router into a surge protector or battery backup unit to help combat these weather related issues. Rain and wind do not typically affect service at all.

Pentium 233mhz or higher; Windows 98 or higher; 64MB RAM or higher; 100MB free hard drive space. Any computer that can run the internet will work, however. Your PC will require a Network Ethernet Controller (Network Card) or a Wireless Network Interface Card. These cards must be compatible with your Wired or Wireless router.

Unlike dial-up, our service is always on. This means that there is no dialing, no waiting, and no need for a second phone line. In fact, our service doesn’t require a phone line at all. There is also a dramatic difference in speed – TierOne Networks is up to 100 times faster than dial-up service. Our service is a fixed-wireless connection that requires mounting a radio to the roof or eve of house with a clear line of site to a TierOne capable tower.

We can typically have service installed within several days of placing an order. Once we’ve determined that the service will work at your location, it takes about 1-2 hours to hook everything up.

No, Customers that exceed 100 Gigabytes will be charged $10 per month for every 25 Gigabytes exceeding such limit. Only an estimated 2% of our customers use over 100 Gigabytes a month. For the other 98% of TierOne’s customers, who use an average of 17 Gigabytes per month, there would be no broadband surcharge. Each customer may monitor monthly usage at any time by signing onto their account online and selecting “Usage History”.

We have designed our wireless network to be as reliable as any wired network.
